Happy Thanksgiving! Here’s What We’re Thankful For…

Hi Parents, Guardians + Friends!

This year for Thanksgiving we only had two days for activities right before the extended break. On the first day, each class discussed the holiday and talked about their favorite part and favorite holiday food! We then colored turkeys only using the warm Autumn colors, as we’d previously studied the different colors of the leaves.

On the next day, we make THANKFUL TREES! The students were instructed to color and cut out (Kindergarten only cut; PK3 & 4 teachers helped cut for them) a tree bark and leaves; glue them down and write what they are thankful for on each leaf.

So many funny answers from the little silly gooses, but I think each and every one of the projects included “Mom and Dad” so they are DEFINITELY thankful for you guys! Take a look…

Enrichment With Ms. Ayana (Yoga) + Creative Movement (Ms. Gigi)

Hello Parents, Guardians + Friends!

Enrichment as certainly been a joy for our little CES friends so far!  This year, we’ve been hanging out with Ms. Ayana in Yoga and the ever so colorful Ms. Gigi in Creative Movement. If you had to ask your child which they liked better, they’d probably tell you that it’s a hard choice! However, our students have asked about Mr. Dale in Capoeira so, hopefully we can get him back for next semester after the holidays!

In addition to Enrichment, we also make sure to give students enough time for outside play, free play (centers), free draw and coloring! This blog is featuring our PK4 class with teachers: Ms. Destinee, Ms. Gladys + Ms. Keith.

Nevertheless, take a peek at how much CES is enjoying this year’s fun…

BANCROFT | Mother’s Day + Crafts Recap

Hi Parents, Guardians + Friends!

On last week at Bancroft we celebrated our MOTHERS every single day! CES MOMS, did you receive at least 5 special somethings, well put together by your little one(s)? You should have! Because they worked so very hard on their mini projects in showing their love for you.

There were even some students creating double of the same project and I asked, “Oh are you making one for your grandmother too?!” Wellllll unfortunately that was NOT the case, and instead ALL for you, MOM!

**One thing about craft time at Bancroft, I instruct the teachers to allow their students to be creative in their very own way, by themselves. I think it’s important to watch and help from a distance in implementing fun + creativity; and also gives them some free space to come up with their own ideas!

Here’s what they did:

CES Welcomes New Curriculum Specialist, Ms. Janice Harper + EARTH DAY

Hi Parents, Guardians + Friends!

You may have noticed a *NEW* face around our parts during the After School programs at both Bancroft + JO Wilson. Yep, that’s right — we have a new staff and her name is Ms. Janice Harper. She came on board last week to serve as our Curriculum Specialist and we absolutely just LOVE her presence, energy and helpful tips! She’s a former educator and her connection with the kids is like none other. Simply put, she reminds me A LOT of my very own mother who’s also a retired educator. Ms. Janice brings a breath of fresh air and warmth to the program and treats the children as her own.

Also on last week, we celebrated EARTH DAY! Our kids love Earth Day and if you ask them all about, please plan to take a moment to hear them out — because they will have quite a lot of engaging things to say!

Thanks so much Ms. Jan (as we call her) for coming in to read to our students about Earth Day. They really enjoyed it!

And let me just commend our kids on their coloring! Isn’t it wonderful? They have surely improved from the beginning of the year 🙂

Bancroft Outside Play | Chalk Art, Hula Hoops + Soft Balls!

Hi Parents, Guardians + Friends!

At the start of the SPRING, I always like to make it a FUN EXPERIENCE as we prepare to make our way back OUT into the fabulous sun after a couple of months of the harsh Winter breeze. Spring officially hit us a bit later this year than we expected, but it finally appeared and let us just all agree — we were READY!

So needless to say, I bought a bunch of chunky chalk in all sorts of colors, hula hoops (because what little girl doesn’t enjoy a good waist exercise with a hoop?), and jumbo soft balls for our high-speed little boys in action!

Did they enjoy this?! Why yes, yes they did:

Bancroft Fun ‘N the Sun | Easter Outside Play + Egg Hunt!

Hi Parents, Guardians + Friends!

EASTER is one of my favorite holidays! And this year (similar to last year), I prepared and hosted an Easter party + egg hunt for our CES kids. They were absolutely thrilled about the party the entire week and I almost cried on that Thursday because rain was forecasted for Friday (the day of the party). BUT, to my surprise and gratefulness, the rain HELD OFF for the entire day 🙂

During that week, we did coloring activities and a quick craft (making the Easter bags); and on the day of the party, we began our after-school activities with Easter inspired chocolates + cupcakes and proceeded outside for the Egg hunt.

Each class had their own egg hunt of course, during their scheduled outside play in which each child was instructed to find exactly 3 eggs to put in their bags. And towards the end of the day, all classes got to participate in one last hunt together. Boy did we have some fun!

Here’s what happened:

**And SPECIAL THANKS to those parents/nannies who allowed their child to stay longer that day to indulge in their egg hunt findings and play 🙂

Come Take A Quick Look Into Jo Wilson Elementary School

Hi Parents, Guardians + Friends!

A couple of months back, we announced that one of our Kindergarten co-teachers, Ms. Helene Fisher would be moving on to coordinate the CES program at Jo Wilson Elementary School. Although we miss her each and every day, we’re here to let you know that all things are going well for her in her new environment with new friends!

She has had two opportunities to visit with the Kindergarteners at Bancroft, but sadly we have not received the same opp to visit with her 😦

But don’t fret! Here are just a few photos that she has offered to share with us. Enjoy!

Happy Easter! AFTER SCHOOL Style!

After a week-long prep, I decided to give our CES friends something fun and excited to enjoy as we prepared for the short holiday. Why not have a cute Easter Egg hunt?? Come on, who doesn’t want to see happy children running around in search of colorful little things? Sounds like our type of party!

So first, we had Pre-K 3 and 4 have their Easter Egg hunt on our playground. There, they were given brown paper bags which I colored and designed to hold their plastic toy eggs (each egg had 5 jellybeans).

After their hunt, the kindergarten had theirs! We let them decorate their own ziploc bags with Easter and Spring inspired stickers! Lastly, each child in our program received 1 pack of peanut or cheese crackers and 1 pack of fruit snacks! I also gave our hardworking staff a treat!

This was SO much fun and definitely the highlight so far of our Spring season! Keep in mind, pictures tell 1,000 stories 🙂

Pre-K3 Welcoming Spring With Easter + Cherry Blossoms!

With April, comes showers, bunnies, eggs and cherry blossoms! And our little ones made sure to remind us all about it! Thanks to our Pre-K3 teachers Ms. Dela Rosa and Ms. Flores, they got extra busy with our fun April crafts!

They made colorful bunnies using cotton balls and COLOR! And also created some pretty neat Cherry Blossom trees with finger paint!

Lets take a look!
