Hi Parents, Guardians + Friends!
As aftercare instructor for Kindergarten at Bancroft, I’m always coming up with ideas on how my students can better understand what it means to be kind to others, correct manners and knowing the difference between right and wrong. Well, last week, we took the entire 5 days together to read and study a book called, “7 Habits of Happy Kids” by Sean Covey.
Kindergarten absolutely loved this book, but probably not as much as me! If you haven’t checked out this book yet, read about it below:
In The 7 Habits of Happy Kids, Sean Covey uses beautifully illustrated stories to bring his family’s successful philosophy to the youngest child.
For the Seven Oaks friends, there is always something to do. Whether they’re singing along with Pokey Porcupine’s harmonica or playing soccer with Jumper Rabbit, everyone is having fun and learning all sorts of things. These seven stories show how practicing the 7 Habits makes this possible for the whole Seven Oaks Community.
From learning how to take charge of their own lives to discovering how balance is best, the Seven Oaks friends have tons of adventures and find out how each and every kid can be a happy kid!
So we discussed so many topics from showing kindness towards others to distinguishing from right/wrong (but in a FUN way!) So after finishing 5 of the stories, we spent the last day team building which included taking a task and completing it as one team. They also enjoyed free drawing their favorite part of story of the book. See what happened below!
