Reminder | NO After Care On Wednesday (November 26, 2014)

Parents —

Please remember that we will not hold after care Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in preparation for our Thanksgiving holiday. The District of Columbia Public Schools are closing their doors at 3:30pm this year.

CES operates from the opening day of first day of school for District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and follows the cancellation and/or closing policy of DCPS. In the event that DCPS requires the school building to be closed early for any reason, parents or guardians will be contacted and advised to arrange prompt pick-up.

Planet Week With Kindergarten!

Last week, our Kindergarten instructor, Ms. Helene talked about planets and the solar system! Our little kindergarteners really enjoyed learning about all planets — Pluto, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, The Sun, Uranus, Venus and EARTH!

Towards the end of the week, they were given the tasks of creating their own planet and naming it! (We had a lot of Elsa’s from Frozen!) and making the solar system with crafts.

La semana pasada, nuestro jardín de niños, la Sra. Helene habló acerca de los planetas y el sistema solar. Nuestro pequeño grupo realmente gustó mucho aprender sobre todos los planetas, Plutón, Júpiter, Marte, Mercurio, Saturno, el Sol, Urano, Venus y la tierra!

Hacia el final de la semana, se les dio la tarea de crear su propio planeta y le dio el nombre. (En nuestro caso, un montón de Elsa de congelados!) y hacer que el sistema solar con la artesanía.

CES Welcomes New Art Instructor — Ms. Tiffanie Jackson!

On last Wednesday, we began our enrichment activities. This year it will include art and capoeira (with soccer and yoga in the Spring). We are happy to welcome Ms. Tiffanie Jackson to our program as the new art instructor! To begin her journey with us, she taught our students how to make their very own crafty turkeys as we gear up for the Thanksgiving holiday! Did I mention that our students LOVE crafts?!

El pasado miércoles, comenzamos nuestras actividades de enriquecimiento. Este año se incluyen arte y capoeira (con el fútbol y el yoga en la primavera). Nos complace dar la bienvenida a la Sra. Tiffanie Jackson a nuestro programa como el nuevo instructor de arte! Recap || Our Halloween Party!

In October, our staff got together and planned a fun Halloween party for our students — not to mention that they totally earned it! So for one day, we brought in the extra sugary treats, plenty of cheesy pizza + juice and snack bags to-go, while they paraded around in their crafty Halloween masks. It was lots of fun for the short time that we had!

En el mes de octubre, nuestro personal se juntaron y proyecta una divertida fiesta de Halloween para nuestros alumnos, por no hablar que totalmente ganado. Así que por un día, hemos reunido en la extra bebidas dulces, un montón de cursi y pizza jugo varias bolsitas de ir, mientras que desfilar por su astuto en Halloween máscaras. Era un montón de diversión para el poco tiempo de que disponíamos.

Welcome to our CES blog! Here you can stay informed about what’s going on in our After Care program at Bancroft Elementary School! Parents will be able to access fun and engaging photos (outside play, classroom activities, arts/crafts, Capoeira), read the latest announcements/updates, highlights about our staff and more!

In addition to our blog, we will also begin selecting a Student of the Month for each class!  The students selected will be rewarded a prize at the end of each month for having showcased hard work and good behavior. Awesome, right?!

Bienvenido a nuestro CES blog! Aquí usted puede mantenerse informado sobre lo que está ocurriendo en nuestro programa de atención después de Bancroft Elementary School! Los padres podrán acceder a fotos divertidas y entretenidas (juegos al aire libre, actividades para el aula, de las artes y oficios, la Capoeira), lea la última anuncios/actualizaciones, lo más destacado de nuestro personal y mucho más.
